Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Exotic Peacock is a splendid, large-flowered, beautifully blooming bulbous plant. Hippeastrum originates from South America. The leaves are long and strap-shaped. The flowers are very large with a pleasant fragrance and sit on tall, sturdy stems. When the flowers open fully, the petals curl up beautifully and the shape of the flower changes.

Large bulbs can produce one to three flower stems, each carrying 4 to 6 upward-facing flowers in bright red with white. The flowers are about 20 cm across, with a broad white stripe running down the centre of each petal and a light green throat. Each flower has a very large number of petals, arranged in several rows; the usual stamens and stigma are absent.

The flower stem is 35 to 55 cm tall. It is an exceptionally vigorous hybrid: larger bulbs produce two or three flower stems. It takes around two months from planting to flowering. This variety is ideal as a cut flower.
