Amaryllis (hippeastum) este o varietate de amaryllis care impresionează prin forma sa neobișnuită, exotică a florii, care amintește de o orhidee tropicală sau fluture. Petalele înguste, ondulate sunt aranjate asimetric, creând o compoziție dinamică. Culoarea principală este roșu aprins, cu nuanțe de cupru-portocaliu, completat de accente de galben-verzui la baza petalelor. Petalele subțiri, ca și cum ar fi pictate cu o perie, oferă florii o „aerisire ușoară”.

Guide and tips for planting amaryllis (Hippeastrum) bulbs

  • Choose a pot that is at least 4 cm wider than the bulb and has drainage holes in the bottom.
  • Fill the pot with well-draining soil, leaving about 2 cm of space at the top.
  • Place the bulb in the centre of the pot, with the pointed end facing up.
  • Cover the bulb with soil, leaving the top one-third of the bulb exposed.
  • Water once until the soil is evenly moist, then keep it only slightly moist until the first shoot appears.
  • Place the pot in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight.
  • As the plant grows, support the stalk with a stake if needed.
  • After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and keep the leaves growing. See our Planting and Care guide for reblooming.
