Zbierka Amaryllis Galaxy
Frequently asked questions about amaryllis
When should I plant amaryllis for flowers at Christmas?
Plant regular amaryllis by mid-November: they bloom 7–10 weeks after planting. Planted later, they flower in January and February. Wax amaryllis need no planting and bloom 4–8 weeks after arrival.
How do I plant an amaryllis bulb?
Use a pot only slightly wider than the bulb, with a drainage hole. Plant so the top third of the bulb stays above the soil, water once, then keep the soil only slightly moist until the shoot appears. Place the pot somewhere warm (20–22 °C) and bright.
What are wax amaryllis?
Wax amaryllis bulbs already contain all the water and nutrients they need: no pot, no soil and no watering. Placed somewhere bright, they flower within 4–8 weeks. They bloom for one season, which makes them an easy gift.
Will my amaryllis flower again next year?
Yes. After flowering, cut off the stem but keep the leaves, water and feed until late summer, then give the bulb 8–12 weeks of cool, dry rest (10–12 °C). Repot, water once and the cycle starts again. Wax amaryllis bloom for one season only.
