A beautiful, splendidly flowering bulbous plant. Hippeastrum originates from South America.

Appearance and fragrance
The flowers are very large with a superb fragrance and sit on tall, sturdy stems. When the flowers fully open, the petals curl beautifully and the shape of the flower changes.

Large bulbs can produce one to three flower stems, each holding 4 to 6 elegant, upward-facing, salmon-pink flowers of about 17 cm in diameter. Each flower has 6 large, oval petals, narrowing towards the tips.

The flower stems grow to approximately 45–60 cm. The leaves are strap-shaped and fairly narrow. Larger bulbs produce more flower stems. It takes about two months from planting to flowering. This variety is suitable as a cut flower.

Guide and tips for planting amaryllis (Hippeastrum) bulbs

Choose a pot that is at least 4 cm wider than the bulb and has drainage holes in the bottom.
Fill the pot with well-draining soil, leaving about 2 cm of space at the top.
Place the bulb in the centre of the pot, with the pointed end facing up.
Cover the bulb with soil, leaving the top one-third of the bulb exposed.
Water once until the soil is evenly moist, then keep it only slightly moist until the first shoot appears.
Place the pot in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight.
As the plant grows, support the stalk with a stake if needed.
