Yellow Crown is one of the very few double amaryllis in yellow – a rare colour in the amaryllis world. Its full, layered flowers open in a soft, buttery yellow around a fresh green heart, bringing a warm touch of sunshine to the darkest winter weeks.

A sought-after variety for collectors and anyone looking for something other than red or white. Beautiful on its own, and lovely combined with white amaryllis.

Planting and care

Plant in a pot just wider than the bulb, with the top third above the soil.
Place in a bright, warm spot (20–22°C), out of harsh midday sun.
Water sparingly until the first shoot appears, then keep the soil lightly moist. Double flowers are heavy, so a thin plant stick can help.

Guide and tips for planting amaryllis (Hippeastrum) bulbs

Choose a pot that is at least 4 cm wider than the bulb and has drainage holes in the bottom.
Fill the pot with well-draining soil, leaving about 2 cm of space at the top.
Place the bulb in the centre of the pot, with the pointed end facing up.
Cover the bulb with soil, leaving the top one-third of the bulb exposed.
Water once until the soil is evenly moist, then keep it only slightly moist until the first shoot appears.
Place the pot in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight.
As the plant grows, support the stalk with a stake if needed.
