Amarylia is a specialist amaryllis shop based in Voorhout, in the heart of the Dutch bulb region. We sell nearly 400 varieties of amaryllis (Hippeastrum) bulbs – from classic Christmas reds and pure whites to lush doubles, exotic spider types, compact Sonatini and ready-to-bloom wax amaryllis – and ship them to all 27 EU countries and Switzerland.

What is an amaryllis?

Amaryllis, botanically Hippeastrum, is a bulb from South America that is grown indoors in Europe for its huge, trumpet-shaped flowers. A top-size bulb produces one or two strong stems of 40–60 cm, each carrying several flowers up to 20 cm across. Planted in October or November, it flowers around Christmas; planted later, it brightens the darkest winter months.

How to choose your amaryllis

  • Colour: red, white, pink, orange, yellow, green, burgundy and striking bicolours.
  • Flower type: large-flowered singles (Galaxy), lush doubles (Double Galaxy), elegant trumpets, exotic spider and Cybister types, mid-size Sonata and compact, many-flowered Sonatini.
  • Bulb size: the circumference in cm. Bigger bulbs give more stems and more flowers; most of ours are 28/30 cm or larger.
  • Effort: regular bulbs need a pot and a little water; wax amaryllis need nothing at all.

When should I order?

For flowers at Christmas, order in October or early November and plant as soon as your bulbs arrive. Amaryllis bloom about 7–10 weeks after planting; wax amaryllis within 4–8 weeks. Plant a few bulbs two or three weeks apart to enjoy flowers all winter long.

Como cuidar de um amarílis em cera?

Coloque o bolbo encerado de pé num local luminoso à temperatura ambiente e não o regue: o bolbo já contém tudo o que precisa. Rode-o de vez em quando para que o caule cresça direito. Os amarílis em cera costumam florir em 4–8 semanas e foram feitos para florir durante uma estação. Amarílis em cera.

O que significa o tamanho do bolbo?

Quanto tempo duram as flores do amarílis?

As flores de cada haste abrem umas após as outras, por isso um único bolbo fica muitas vezes em flor durante várias semanas. Mudar a planta para um local mais fresco (15–18 °C) quando as flores abrem faz com que durem mais.

O meu amarílis pode voltar a florir no próximo ano?

Sim, os amarílis normais (não encerados) podem voltar a florir. Após a floração, corte a haste floral mas deixe as folhas crescer, regue e adube a planta na primavera e no verão e depois dê ao bolbo um repouso seco de cerca de 8–10 semanas antes de o voltar a ativar. Plantação e cuidados.

Os amarílis são venenosos para animais de estimação?

Sim, todas as partes do amarílis, sobretudo o bolbo, são nocivas se ingeridas. Mantenha as plantas fora do alcance de crianças, gatos e cães.

    The bulbs were really big, some are flowering already.
    They came quickly and well packed.
    Some of them were rotten, but I don't think it was your fault, because they had to stay in the box for a week. I tried to save them, one is flowering now.
