We sell nearly 400 varieties of amaryllis (Hippeastrum) bulbs – from classic Christmas reds and pure whites to lush doubles, exotic spider types, compact Sonatini and ready-to-bloom wax amaryllis – and ship them to all 27 EU countries and Switzerland.

What is an amaryllis?

Amaryllis, botanically Hippeastrum, is a bulb from South America that is grown indoors in Europe for its huge, trumpet-shaped flowers. A top-size bulb produces one or two strong stems of 40–60 cm, each carrying several flowers up to 20 cm across. Planted in October or November, it flowers around Christmas; planted later, it brightens the darkest winter months.

How to choose your amaryllis

  • Colour: red, white, pink, orange, yellow, green, burgundy and striking bicolours.
  • Flower type: large-flowered singles (Galaxy), lush doubles (Double Galaxy), elegant trumpets, exotic spider and Cybister types, mid-size Sonata and compact, many-flowered Sonatini.
  • Bulb size: the circumference in cm. Bigger bulbs give more stems and more flowers; most of ours are 28/30 cm or larger.
  • Effort: regular bulbs need a pot and a little water; wax amaryllis need nothing at all.

When should I order?

For flowers at Christmas, order in October or early November and plant as soon as your bulbs arrive. Amaryllis bloom about 7–10 weeks after planting; wax amaryllis within 4–8 weeks. Plant a few bulbs two or three weeks apart to enjoy flowers all winter long.

Hur sköter jag en vaxamaryllis?

Ställ den vaxade löken upprätt på en ljus plats i rumstemperatur och vattna den inte: löken innehåller redan allt den behöver. Vrid den då och då så att stjälken växer rakt. Vaxamaryllis blommar oftast inom 4–8 veckor och är gjorda för att blomma en säsong. Vaxamaryllis.

Vad betyder lökstorleken?

Lökstorleken är omkretsen i centimeter, till exempel 28/30 eller 30/32 cm. Större lökar har mer näring i reserv och ger oftast fler blomstänglar och fler blommor. Kompakta typer som Sonatini har naturligt mindre lökar. Våra storlekar & kvalitet.

Hur länge blommar en amaryllis?

Blommorna på varje stängel slår ut efter varandra, så en enda lök blommar ofta i flera veckor. Flytta växten till en svalare plats (15–18 °C) när blommorna slagit ut, så håller de längre.

Kan min amaryllis blomma igen nästa år?

Ja, vanliga (ej vaxade) amaryllis kan blomma igen. Klipp av blomstängeln efter blomningen men låt bladen växa vidare, vattna och gödsla växten under våren och sommaren och ge sedan löken en torr vila på cirka 8–10 veckor innan du startar den igen. Plantering och skötsel.

Är amaryllis giftiga för husdjur?

Ja, alla delar av amaryllisen, särskilt löken, är skadliga om de äts. Håll växterna utom räckhåll för barn, katter och hundar.

    The bulbs were really big, some are flowering already.
    They came quickly and well packed.
    Some of them were rotten, but I don't think it was your fault, because they had to stay in the box for a week. I tried to save them, one is flowering now.
