Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Belladonna is an elegant variety celebrated for its delicate pink blooms and effortless, abundant flowering. Tracing its origins to South Africa and Australia, this graceful bulb has become one of the most rewarding amaryllis to grow indoors, prized for its soft romantic charm.

Its tall, sturdy flower stalk carries a generous cluster of 6 to 12 buds, each opening to a soft pink hue up to 15 cm in diameter. Long strap-like foliage rises around 60 cm from the base, framing the blooms beautifully, while a gentle natural fragrance makes Belladonna equally lovely as a cut flower for bouquets.

Easy to grow and long-flowering, Belladonna rewards minimal care with a spectacular, extended display — bright indirect light, moderate watering, and a proper dormant period are all it needs to bloom generously year after year.

How to Plant?

Guide and tips for planting amaryllis (Hippeastrum) bulbs

  • Choose a pot that is at least 4 cm wider than the bulb and has drainage holes in the bottom.
  • Fill the pot with well-draining soil, leaving about 2 cm of space at the top.
  • Place the bulb in the centre of the pot, with the pointed end facing up.
  • Cover the bulb with soil, leaving the top one-third of the bulb exposed.
  • Water once until the soil is evenly moist, then keep it only slightly moist until the first shoot appears.
  • Place the pot in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight.
  • As the plant grows, support the stalk with a stake if needed.
