Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Evergreen is a very beautiful, splendidly flowering, perennial bulbous plant. Native to Africa.

Appearance
The leaves of this flower are linear-tongue-shaped. The flowers are very large with an excellent scent and sit on fairly tall, thickened flower arrows. The bulbs are large and can bear one to three flower arrows. Each of the arrows holds between 4 and 8 delicate, star-shaped, lemon-coloured flowers. The flower stalk is about 50 cm tall.

Flower diameter: 10-12 cm

Height of the flower stalk: ca. 50 cm

The diameter of each flower is 10 to 12 cm. The throat is the most intensely coloured.
The petals are oblong and tapered towards the end. When the flowers fully open, the petals curl beautifully and the shape of the flower changes.
The outer petals are slightly wider than the inner ones and may have horn-like projections at the base. The pistil and stamens are filiform, very light. The stigma is greenish around the throat. The pollen of this plant is yellow. The bulbs are up to 10 cm in diameter. On average it takes about two months from planting to flowering. This plant is ideal for cuttings.

How to Plant?

Guide and tips for planting amaryllis(hippeastrum) bulbs

  • Choose a pot that is at least 4 cm wider than the bulb and has drainage holes in the bottom.
  • Fill the pot with well-draining soil, leaving about 2 cm of space at the top.
  • Place the bulb in the center of the pot, with the pointed end facing up.
  • Cover the bulb with soil, leaving the top one-third of the bulb exposed.
  • Water the soil until it is evenly moist, but not waterlogged.
  • Place the pot in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight.
  • Water the plant only when the top inch of soil is dry to the touch.
  • As the plant grows, support the stalk with a stake to prevent it from bending or breaking.
  • After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with bright, indirect sunlight.
