Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) 'Ocean Drive' is a striking single-flowered variety that impresses with its bold bicolor blooms. The large, star-shaped flowers feature bright scarlet-red petals edged with crisp white margins and a vivid green throat at the center. This vibrant contrast gives the plant a festive, eye-catching appeal, making 'Ocean Drive' perfect for holiday décor and winter interiors.

The plant grows to a height of 50–60 cm (20–24 inches) and produces sturdy stems carrying 2–4 large flowers, each measuring 18–22 cm in diameter. How to Plant?

Guide and tips for planting amaryllis (Hippeastrum) bulbs

  • Choose a pot that is at least 4 cm wider than the bulb and has drainage holes in the bottom.
  • Fill the pot with well-draining soil, leaving about 2 cm of space at the top.
  • Place the bulb in the centre of the pot, with the pointed end facing up.
  • Cover the bulb with soil, leaving the top one-third of the bulb exposed.
  • Water once until the soil is evenly moist, then keep it only slightly moist until the first shoot appears.
  • Place the pot in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight.
  • As the plant grows, support the stalk with a stake if needed.
