The external appearance
Flower diameter: 20 cm
Height of the plant: 30-50 cm tall
Flowering time: winter
The 'Ice Queen' is a bulbous perennial with spectacular flowers. If you're looking for something special, check out this amaryllis. The elegant flowers on sturdy stems with their delicate colours are just what you're looking for! They are coloured white with a creamy cast which shimmers in good light. The throat of the flower is a yellow-green colour. The petals are narrow, oblong, with sharp tips and wavy edges, bent backwards (up to 20 in one flower). They are arranged in inflorescences, usually 4-7 flowers each (half of them open at once, the rest open 1-2 weeks later). The size of the flower is astonishing - over 20 cm in diameter! The flower stems are long, tubular. The leaves are glossy, strap-shaped, dark green. The bulb is fleshy, rounded and slightly elongated. It measures up to 10 cm in diameter. It produces one or two flower stalks. The plant is 30-50 cm tall. The flowering period is winter (6-10 weeks after planting). Order yourself a gorgeous bouquet! Agree, it is very interesting to watch the iridescent blossoms light up on a cold day.
P.S. Hippeastrum was first wrongly identified as Amaryllis Equestris by botanist Linnaeus. Linnaeus' error is the cause of worldwide confusion between 'Amaryllis' and 'Hippeastrum'.

Guide and tips for planting amaryllis(hippeastrum) bulbs
- Choose a pot that is at least 4 cm wider than the bulb and has drainage holes in the bottom.
- Fill the pot with well-draining soil, leaving about 2 cm of space at the top.
- Place the bulb in the center of the pot, with the pointed end facing up.
- Cover the bulb with soil, leaving the top one-third of the bulb exposed.
- Water the soil until it is evenly moist, but not waterlogged.
- Place the pot in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight.
- Water the plant only when the top inch of soil is dry to the touch.
- As the plant grows, support the stalk with a stake to prevent it from bending or breaking.
- After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with bright, indirect sunlight.
