The bright, early-blooming amaryllis variety Red Tiger will delight all flower growers with its large gramophone flowers. It's a great flower to decorate the house on New Year's Eve and Christmas Day.

Appearance
Bouquets made from its hollow but fairly sturdy stems also look original. The plant is unpretentious and it is possible to achieve its second flowering in summer in the open air.

Height: 50 cm

Flower diameter: 10-15 cm

Flowering period: January to February

Colour of flowers: red

The large Red Tiger bulb will be potted immediately after purchase by burying it 1/3rd of the way down. Choose a pot with a small diameter for planting. Keep the soil lightly moistened throughout the post-planting period by drying out the clump of soil. When the flower stalks are extended and a strong rosette of leaves is formed, fertilization with a universal fertilizer is added to the care. In summer, the bulbs are planted in the open ground. Often they will bloom again. In autumn, they are dug up and left to dry out for two months.

How to Plant?

Guide and tips for planting amaryllis(hippeastrum) bulbs

  • Choose a pot that is at least 4 cm wider than the bulb and has drainage holes in the bottom.
  • Fill the pot with well-draining soil, leaving about 2 cm of space at the top.
  • Place the bulb in the center of the pot, with the pointed end facing up.
  • Cover the bulb with soil, leaving the top one-third of the bulb exposed.
  • Water the soil until it is evenly moist, but not waterlogged.
  • Place the pot in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight.
  • Water the plant only when the top inch of soil is dry to the touch.
  • As the plant grows, support the stalk with a stake to prevent it from bending or breaking.
  • After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with bright, indirect sunlight.
