Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) is a unique bulbous plant that enchants with its large, bright flowers and brings an air of luxury to any interior. Its various varieties are distinguished not only by their color palette, but also by the shape of the petals, which makes each variety special.

Amaryllis Sumatra is a variety that stands out for its exotic, almost orchid-like flower shape. How to Plant?

Guide and tips for planting amaryllis (Hippeastrum) bulbs

  • Choose a pot that is at least 4 cm wider than the bulb and has drainage holes in the bottom.
  • Fill the pot with well-draining soil, leaving about 2 cm of space at the top.
  • Place the bulb in the centre of the pot, with the pointed end facing up.
  • Cover the bulb with soil, leaving the top one-third of the bulb exposed.
  • Water once until the soil is evenly moist, then keep it only slightly moist until the first shoot appears.
  • Place the pot in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight.
  • As the plant grows, support the stalk with a stake if needed.
